Optima Kitchens featured on the cover of SA Homeowner

Leading kitchen design and installation company Optima Kitchens was featured on the cover of South African Homeowner July 2010 edition. 

The featured kitchen was recently completed in Bassonia Estate in Johannesburg. According to project manager Fanie Marais, the owner originally wanted a peninsula around the kitchen.

"We advised the client to opt for an island instead. We wanted to create a focal point to accentuate his new kitchen and create better flow. Furthermore, the island allows guests to keep the cook company during the food preparation process and can be used as a dining area. We also wanted to make the most of the beautiful view," said Marais.

The client opted for the green glass fittings on Optima Kitchens' advisement.

"Because the kitchen forms part of the family room, we advised the client to go for something fresh and bold. The toughened green glass is trendy and easy to clean and draws attention to the kitchen."

The aluminium cupboards are durable and easy to clean and the island was fitted with a handy pop-up plug. The kitchen was also fitted with a prep-bowl in the food preparation area. In addition to the beautiful fittings, the kitchen was equipped with all the appliances a foodie could possibly need.

"The kitchen was fitted with a built-in coffee machine and microwave oven. The stainless steel refrigerator adds to the modern feel and brings it all together," Marais said.
